![]() Part of the American proletarian poetry movement, he was critical of the superficial "get ahead" American consumerist society and was an influence on the later beat poets. His first two poetry collections Angel Arms (1929) and Poems (1935) were his best and earned him two Guggenheim Fellowships. There he wrote poetry and made his living writing for pulp magazines. ![]() In 1924, he moved to New York where he lived the rest of his life. The son of a successful Chicago attorney, he went to the University of Wisconsin. Kenneth Fearing (1902-1961) was an American writer.
